Studio Work from last Quarter

I know that a post about my trip to Cambodia is long overdue but I really need to post this work and get feedback from people. Don’t be shy. Key themes in my work: pattern, nature, claiming space, mimicry, and camouflage.

This piece is about 24″ x 36″ is size, so it’s what I call a small scale study for my larger work. It all starts with a photograph of a pattern I find in nature and as that motif gets more and more designed it becomes simpler and simpler. I incorporated photography, gouache painting, screenprinting, and digital printing in this work on paper.

This work is approximately 5′x 9′. The next step for me is to work more on the areas of transition, and start to morph the final “designed” patterns back down to other patterns occurring in nature…so on and so forth until it encompasses an entire room, claiming it so to speak. I’ll probably be working a relatively smaller this quarter, since I’ll working mostly on my research so get ready for some theory…

Your creativity combining art and nature continues to amaze and delight me! You have found an interesting formula. I can actually visualize this growing in the historic district. Absolutely fabulous!
